After staying in Quba on his arrival in Madinah, the Prophet (peace be upon him) set out for the city on a Friday. Prayer time came while he was among the tribe of Bani Salim ibn Awf in the valley of Ranuna, and he led the Jumu’ah prayer there, the first he led in Madinah.
The mosque that stands on the spot today was rebuilt and expanded in recent years.
