The mosque at al-Tan'im, the nearest point outside the Haram boundary, where people in Makkah put on Ihram for an extra Umrah.

Why it matters

The practical Miqat for anyone inside Makkah who wishes to perform another Umrah, about 7 kilometres from the Haram.

Read the history

During the Farewell Pilgrimage, Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was unable to perform Umrah before Hajj. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked her brother Abdul Rahman to take her to al-Tan’im so she could enter Ihram from there and perform Umrah, as reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The mosque built at the spot is the most common place for pilgrims already in Makkah to enter Ihram for another Umrah.
